On February 17, 2024 the Cape Breton Chordsmen held their annual installation of officers / ladies night at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 78 in Dominion. A fantastic traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings was enjoyed by nearly 100 guests in attendance, which was supplied as part of the package through the Legion kitchen staff.
Fruit baskets, which were donated by Sobey’s and Super Store in Glace Bay were given away as door prizes. A 50/50 even split ticket draw sold by John and Cynthia Peach, was held with $230.00 going to the winner.
A special portion of the night was dedicated to award presentations in recognition of the hard work and contributions of chorus members. Ron Newcombe received the “Barbershopper of the Year” award for 2024, and Stewart Read was awarded the John D. MacKinnon “Unsung Barbershopper” title. Gary Peach was recognized with the Norman Stubbington “The Show Must Go On” award for all of his contributions after his heart surgery.
An excellent night of music was enjoyed with the chorus singing three songs and the old Quattro’s performance of Hallelujah. Then on to some dancing and Karaoke with music supplied by Gerald Farrell and Glenn Drodge. A great night was had by all.
