Master of Ceremonies

Mike Savard

President, Northeastern District

Mike Savard is a native Rhode Islander who started singing at age 9 with the Barrington Boys Choir of Rhode Island. While he kept singing all along, he wasn’t exposed to Barbershop until 36 years later when he became a member of the Allentown-Bethlehem, PA Chapter in 2012. His career subsequently took him to Chicago and the Northbrook, IL Chapter, where he served as Chapter Membership VP, and the IL District VP of Chapter Support and Leadership Training.

When he returned to RI in 2018, he immediately stepped into the vacated Membership VP position in Providence (Narragansett Bay Chorus). Mike is the Baritone of Second Nature quartet, the 2022 Patriot Division Quartet Champions, and is also a member of the Providence Chapter/Narragansett Bay Chorus and the Southern New England Chapter.

Mike has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA and makes his living as a project management consultant. He and his wife Mary (a Sweet Adeline chorus champion, and a member of Voices United chorus) live in North Providence.

Alan Lamson

Northeastern District Vice-President for Contest and Judging

Connecticut, Northeastern District

Alan Lamson, long time member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, is a member of the Manchester, CT (Silk City Chorus) and Alexandria, VA (Alexandria Harmonizers) chapters. For the Manchester chapter he is a twice past president, Barbershopper of the Year twice, and Barbershopper of the Decade (1990s).

Alan served as Northeastern District Executive Vice-President, and Vice-President Chapter Support and Leadership Training, then District President in 2003-2004. He is the current Vice-President Contest and Judging elect. He was the 1999 District Barbershopper of the Year. Alan has served as Dean and Chapter President instructor in the Society’s Chapter Officer Training School and Leadership Academy programs, slected as the Society’s Outstanding COTS Coordinator in 1998, is a Contest Administrator in the Society’s contest and judging program and has served as staff to the Northeastern District’s Harmony Explosion Camp.

Alan served on the Society’s International Board of Directors for eight years – serving as Society President from 2011-2012. He is Chairman of the Society’s Nominating Committee. In 2016 Alan was selected to be a member of the Society’s Leadership Operations Planning Team. He was also interim CEO for the Society in 2012. Alan is a member of NEWCANEWENG, the Northeastern District’s honourary association.

Alan resides in Manchester, CT with his wife Janet. They have two sons and five grandchildren. He is retired from FLB Architecture and Planning, Inc. in East Hartford, CT.
